I know it’s been awhile since I posted to my blog. But I have a good excuse! I’ve been busy the whole time talking to Verizon Wireless Tech Support.
Think that’s an exaggeration?
It all started with a “FREE phone.” Now I have been around long enough to know nothing is free. For past "free" phones I have had to "buy" a car charger, holster, Bluetooth gizmo, USB cable, software, memory card, antenna adapter, and more. Oh, and sign my future away every time too!
Frustrated by having to spend money on a ‘free’ item, I tried to forgo buying software this time around. To backup my contacts, I decided to use Verizon's "free" Backup Assistant. Be advised that any time someone calls me, I usually add them to my contacts so that the next time their name will show up on my display. So I have a lot of contacts. More contacts than Backup Assistant can import.
But there was an even bigger problem. The contacts I put in Backup Assistant sometimes would not download to my phone. But the contacts that did download were added to Backup Assistant a second time the next day. And then downloaded to the phone again. This process repeated itself until there were so many duplicates the phone reached its storage limit.
So I called Verizon Tech Support. Once.. Twice... Umpteen times! Here's how it worked: After getting transferred to another person, that person would confer with their supervisor, and then they would tell me they had to create a trouble ticket so somebody could call me back. I got trouble ticket numbers, but never any return phone calls.
So here I am with 1000 contacts on my phone. I never knew an address book could have sextuplets.
