Normally, junk mail goes straight to the trash.
But this time, out of curiosity, I decided to read the fine print. I just wanted to know what the latest gotcha looked like.
Basically, it said this:
If you have entered a cell phone number, or a number that is later ported to a cell phone, we can call you on that number. Furthermore, you also agree that you’ll accept calls from automated dialers that bombard you with prerecorded messages. Oh, and you’ll be getting text messages too, which your cell provider may bill you for.
Somehow, I don’t think I want to do business with that company! So after rolling my eyes at the fine print, I tossed the offer in the trash. But I pity the poor folks that failed to notice they were also agreeing to automated telemarketing and text messages – especially if they do not have unlimited minutes and text on their phone.
