No, I don’t mean ‘bitten’ in the sense I am enamored with it. I mean ‘bitten’ in the sense I’ve been stung. Yes, people send email to my g-mail account that never shows up.
This is not the first time I’ve had issues with g-mail. The first time I discovered something awry occurred when I was trying to send an email with an attachment from my g-mail account. It acted like it was sent, but the recipient never got it. I tried a couple times and even CC’d one of my other email accounts, but as long as I attached a PDF document it went nowhere.
The second issue I noticed with g-mail is related to the way I get my email. I use Microsoft Outlook so I do not have to be constantly monitoring the web client, and I like Outlook’s grammar & spell checker. Furthermore, I get my email on both my laptop and desktop PC. To make this work, I configure Outlook to ‘leave a copy on the server’ for several days so it is still there for the 2nd machine to download. Except this doesn’t work with g-mail; the first PC to retrieve the email is the only PC to get the email!
But my latest discovery is that g-mail has a hidden SPAM folder and it periodically stashes emails there. Today I noticed four important emails hiding in that obscure SPAM folder, and none of them were SPAM. Nor did any of them look anything like SPAM! So I’ve had it with g-mail; I’ll be using an alternative from now on.

What alternative?
Hotmail.
The default settings in Outlook will not work and the Outlook Connector can be a bit clumsy. However, a search for 'Hotmail POP3 Outlook settings' will get you the parameters to use to make Hotmail work in Outlook like other POP3 email accounts.
