The grandkids are here visiting this week. That means many enjoyable moments for Grandma and Grandpa, and a few amusing comments from the kids.
When they first arrived they had to have a quick tour of the house, including Grandma and Grandpa’s bedroom. We sleep on a waterbed, which is quite rare these days but was so popular 30 years ago you could rent a motel room that had a waterbed. The kids were just enamored with the “jello-bed” as they described it. How they know what it is like to bounce and dive onto “jello” is beyond me. But that is how they aptly described our waterbed mattress.
Our guests moved into and took over the basement. So stuff ended up everywhere – the bedroom, the family room, and even the storage room. When we asked them how they slept, the one tucked into the storage room (which has no windows) described it as a “cozy jail.” Again, I wondered how he would know what that is like…
Another amusing incident was when the oldest one, who obviously understands how baby monitors work, would pass monolog messages/updates from downstairs to upstairs using the baby monitor.
